Trina Hurdman was elected as a public school board trustee for the Calgary Board of Education in October 2013. She represents ward 6, which is located in Calgary’s southwest, and Ward 7 which is in the northwest. Due to the city’s decision to change the ward boundaries for the 2017 election, she decided to run for re-election where she lives in new Wards 1 & 2 in the northwest.

Trina believes that there are very few things that matter more than a strong public education system. Education is a community endeavour and Trina is passionate about bringing people together, listening to diverse perspectives and working with others to make our education system the best it can be. She is also an avid reader who constantly seeks to learn best practices in education and governance in order to better serve Calgarians as a trustee.

Trina is a former educator who taught in Quebec, Ontario and Taiwan before moving to Calgary in 2004 and having three children who all attend CBE schools. She has been involved in the Calgary Board of Education as a parent, as a school council chair and as an executive member of the Association for Responsive Trusteeship in Calgary Schools and Save Our Fine Arts. She has a Masters in Educational Technology from the University of Calgary and currently volunteers as a YMCA preschool teacher.
