About Me

I have been proud to serve as a public school trustee over the past four years where I have put my experience in education, research and finance to good use. My Bachelor of Science degree taught me how to critically analyze data, allowing me to ask tough questions and to dig deeper into student results and plans for improvement. As a teacher in Quebec, Ontario and Taiwan, I learned about different education systems and policies, and the challenges faced by teachers with increasingly diverse and complex classrooms. While completing a Masters in Educational Technology, I gained a deeper understanding of current education research and effective teaching practices. Working in the financial services industry has given me a strong background in reading financial documents which has been invaluable as trustees are responsible for budgets of over a billion dollars.

I am the mother of three children who all attend Calgary Board of Education (CBE) schools, in both regular and alternative programs. I have been involved in the CBE as a parent, as a school council chair and as an executive member of the Association for Responsive Trusteeship in Calgary Schools and Save Our Fine Arts. In addition to volunteering at my children’s schools, I also currently volunteer as the primary pianist in my church and as a YMCA preschool teacher.

I believe that there are very few things that matter more than a strong public education system. Education is a community endeavour and I am passionate about bringing people together, listening to diverse perspectives and working with others to make our education system the best it can be. I am also an avid reader who constantly seeks to learn best practices in education and governance in order to better serve Calgarians as a trustee. With your support, I hope to continue this important work for another four years.
